ABOUT US

Research in the laboratory attempts to understand mechanisms by which neurons and neural networks operate to generate movements. In these studies, we use the rodent as a model system to study the molecular, cellular and network organization of spinal locomotor circuitries, their development and central control in mammals. We use a broad technical approach involving electrophysiology, imaging, anatomy and mouse genetics. The lab is also engaged in characterizing plasticity in motor neurons following lesions of the spinal cord and in devising target treatments of injury-induced dysfunctional motor symptoms.
