Synaptic transmission and modulation
The brainstem-spinal cord utilizes AMPA and NMDA glutamatergic transmission and glycinergic inhibitory synaptic effects. In addition, slow synaptic transmission in terms of pre-and postsynaptic metabotropic glutamate receptors, GABAB, 5-HT, dopamine, substance P and other neuropeptides contribute importantly in modulating synaptic efficacy and soma-dendritic function.
