RESEARCH
Main focus is mathematical modelling of motor systems, with special regard to information processing and learning in the basal ganglia. The level of modelling ranges from the neural network level down to subcellular processes, the latter which are important for understanding mechanisms involved in synaptic plasticity.
The methodology used in modelling of subcellular biochemical networks has also been applied to other fields. Metabolic pathways involved in glucose-insulin secretion coupling in the pancreatic beta-cells has been explored through computational modelling. Also analysis of a DNA sequencing method - Pyrosequencing, which relies on four enzymes, has been performed.
